Mobile Workforce vs. Healthcare

Mobility has become an increasingly important element in the business world, and many organizations are taking advantage of the associated benefits. Having a mobile workforce enables for increased productivity, communication and collaboration outside of the office with co-workers as well as customers. BYOD has a pivotal role in this as well, as many employees are utilizing their personal smartphones, tablets, and laptops to access and save business data. Here we will take a look at the mobile workforce as it applies to the healthcare industry in particular, and 3 of Centrality’s offerings that make mobility possible.

  1. Mobile Device Management / Enterprise Mobility Management (MDM/EMM): Mobile Device Management not only provides a more secure mobile workforce, but also a more productive one. IBM’s Maas 360 provides a complete management and security solution for devices, applications, web access, emails, and documents. Employees then have secure access to corporate information and resources from either personal or corporate-provided devices, of which all mobile operating system platforms are supported.  If a device is lost or stolen, or if an employee leaves your organization and takes their device with them, removal of corporate information and access can be locked and wiped from the device – eliminating the risk of compromising electronic protected healthcare information (EPHI) and facing a security breach.
  2. Complete Cloud: Centrality’s Complete Cloud solution also allows for employees to work from anywhere at anytime without having to connect via VPN. With a simple login with SSL encryption, users have access to all of the same company resources on their tablet or smartphone as if they were sitting at their desk in the office and using their Thin Client. Again, security and compliance standards come into play with mobile devices accessing sensitive company information — with Complete Cloud, no data is saved or stored locally on the device. Instead, everything is stored in the cloud in redundant data centers so no unwanted visitors can access patient information. Overall, mobility with Complete Cloud ensures better collaboration, responsiveness, and performance for your organization.
  3. Office 365: Last but not least, Microsoft’s cloud based Office 365 also provides a mobility factor.  With Skype for Business for instance, a physician can join web meetings on the go or host their own formal web conference with other physicians or board members from other organizations no matter the location. In addition, one can utilize the Office Suite applications up to 5 devices, sync files to OneDrive to access offline, and communicate effectively with email with anti-spam included as well as shared calendaring.
